Workshop Manuals
Are you restoring or repairing a Model T? Maybe you are dedicating your life to a Ford Anglia, or you have a Jaguar Mk VII in need of a clutch rebuild and you’re not sure how to get at it.
We have, in Central Library, over twelve hundred items covering all aspects of motor vehicle and engine repair, restoration and running maintenance. The manuals cover:
- outboard motors
- inboard marine engines
- motor cars
- motor cycles
- commercial vehicles
- tractor
- caravan
- ATVs
There are single model and multi model manuals along with a number of specialist subject manuals some of which deal with multiple makers and include: wiring, carburettors, timing belts, brakes systems, transmissions, steering and a further type of manual deals with data.
The data manuals are an easy way to find the specifications you need to know if, for example, you are doing a smaller maintenance or repair. Included in those books is information like carburettor settings, torque-wrench settings (eg: cylinder head, big end and flywheel), toe-in camber angles and valve clearance to name a few.
We also have a very small number of much older publications which are useful for various makes for which we have no dedicated publication.
We do not cover every motor vehicle and mostly the cars covered are back to the 1960s but some go further back – good if you own a Henry J Vagabond or a Hudson Terraplane.
It stands to reason that the biggest number of single make manuals are Ford and Holden. There is also a large number of modern manuals covering two to three decades of makes such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi and Toyota.
If we do not have your particular make and model we can search for a car which uses your car’s engine or the same carburettor, gearbox, brakes and so on.
If you are working on some aspect of motor and/or vehicle gear and you get stuck, it’s worth an e-mail or a visit to check if we have the information you need. Alternatively, check out our catalogue.
