Kiwi Christmas shutdown
We’ve had a few people on holiday in the photos in the last few months and here we are again in holiday mode. Holidays are nearly upon us with the looming great kiwi Christmas shutdown. These folk are quite a bit older than those shown previously but the car is packed up and they are dressed for the drive. Thing is, it doesn’t look like summer. Of the three ladies, the one on the right looks the youngest by some years. The elderly chap is probably her father. We don’t have names or ages so cannot be certain. The car is a c.1916 to 1920 Buick. It looks like a D series. It is also well laden. The canvas sheeting on the right-hand side undoubtedly covers luggage – a suitcase is visible at the bottom. The back seat is jammed with pillows. The car number plate tells us it was before 1925. Any distance was a long way in these cars.
