Librarian's Choice: Seven Sisters Series
Title: Seven Sisters series
Author: Lucinda Riley
Lucinda Riley has written a seven-book series all based on a different main character. It all starts with ‘Pa Salt’, a wealthy, unmarried billionaire adopting 6 baby girls from all over the world. The girls grow up experiencing an idyllic childhood on Atlantis, a private island estate on Lake Geneva, Switzerland. Once grown, they move away, living their own lives, until the news of their adoptive father’s death reunites them all at Atlantis once more. Here they each receive a letter from their departed father, along with coordinates to give them a clue to their origins if they wish to discover them.
Style and Themes
Each book is written in the first person and covers one sister as she travels to a different country in search of her past connections and identity. There is a theme here throughout the series where the past and the present run side by side in two separate stories and each book moves seamlessly between the two. I found this technique really held my interest as the writing is lively and compelling with excellent character development.
I would class this series as historical fiction as it is well researched and very informative. In addition, there are elements of a travelogue as well as adventure and romance. I really related to the characters and their ups and downs on their journeys of discovery. These books will appeal to a wide range of readers.
