Our interloan service lets you borrow items from other cities if what you're looking for isn't in our catalogue. It is most commonly used for items that are specialised, older or out-of-print. For newly published items, you can make a purchase request and we will consider adding it to our collection.
The standard fee for an inter-library loan is $15 per item. Other charges may apply for urgent or international inter-library loans.
For both interloans and purchase requests, you need to be a member of Hamilton City Libraries. Log in to your account and click the 'Send a Request' tab:
Select the type of request you want from the drop-down menu, then fill out the form and click Submit.
You can check the status of your request later by going to My Account > Requests. Expand the Recommend for Purchase or Request an Interlibrary Loan heading to see the details of each request. This will be updated with a note from our team to let you know if the request was successful.
