For people with print-based reading disabilities, we have accessible formats available, including digital talking books, large print books and electronic publications.
Click & Collect
We offer a Click and Collect service which lets you request library items from your chosen Hamilton City Libraries branch.
Homebound
All our collections are accessible with our Homebound Service. If you are unable to visit the library due to illness or disability, we can come to you.
Digital Desktop Magnifier
TOPAZ HD Magnifier available at Te Kete Aronui and Central Library for visually impaired users. Offers up to 64x magnification, high-contrast modes, and reading aids. A groove in the table helps hold round objects steady. No registration required—ask staff before use.
Memory Care Collection
The Poipoi Mahara - Memory Care collection has books and other items to support carers and persons experiencing cognitive decline, most commonly known as dementia. The collection has materials for all stages of dementia.
Reading Buddies
Read to therapy dogs to build confidence with reading. This programme is designed specifically for school-aged children/young people who have print disabilities, dyslexia, or other disabilities which impact upon their reading. Keep an eye on our Event Calendar for the next public intake.
