LOVE YOUR SUMMER, SHARE YOUR SUMMER! COMPETITION

Celebrate summer in Kirikiriroa! We’d love you to share your stories, artworks, and photos of Hamilton this summer. Capture your favourite moment and submit your entry by 31 January for a chance to win one of three $100 vouchers - two from Whitcoulls and one from Gordon Harris, the art and graphic store.

All entries will be added to our Archives and Special Collections, preserving your summer memories for future generations.

How to Enter:

Create -
Snap a photo, write a story, or draw a picture that captures your favourite summer moment.

Submit -
Send in your entry by 31 January.
You can upload your entry using the online form below, or submit it in person at any Hamilton City Libraries branch.

Digital photographs or artworks:
5MB-10MB in size
Not accepted media: videos, montage, anything with AI assistance

Physical artworks:
A2 size or smaller on flat paper or card
Accepted media: pencil, pen, pastels, watercolours, acrylic paint
Not accepted media: 3D works, sculpture or paintings on canvases

Written composition:
Story, poem or prose up to 300 words.

Terms and Conditions

Entries must be your own original work.
You must complete an entry form and submit your work online or deliver it to any Hamilton City Libraries branch by 31 January 2026. Entries can also be emailed to heritage@hcc.govt.nz.
Entries must include your full name and contact details. If the entrant is 16 years old or under, a parent or legal guardian’s full name and contact details must also be provided.
If entering on behalf of someone under 16, please include their name as well.
The Library reserves the right not to accept entries that are inappropriate.
Entries will be judged by three appointed judges; no correspondence about their decision will be entered into.
Judging will take place on or before 13 February 2026, and winners will be notified within one week of that date.
By entering, you agree that your submission will be added to Hamilton City Libraries’ Archives & Special Collections.
Entries involving AI generation or AI assistance will not be accepted.
