Get creative and make your very own mini‑book in this hands‑on zine workshop for children aged 8+. Explore different styles of zines, including concertina zines that unfold like a paper accordion, and pop‑up zines featuring 3D cut‑out shapes that spring to life from the pages.
Kids will experiment with collage using text and images from recycled books and magazines, and they’ll also have the chance to add their own drawings, writing, and illustrations to personalise each page.
There are no limits to the themes you can choose! Create a storyboard for a comic, design a bucket list of adventures, fold out a giant landscape, imagine an underwater monster world — or invent something completely new.
By the end of the workshop, every participant will have a unique, hand‑crafted zine to take home and share. Suitable for children aged 8-13 years.
Make sure to register below as spots are limited!
This workshop is an event that is part of Zinefest - our main event is held at Hamilton Central Library on the 9th May. Zines are short run, self-published magazines that allow your imagination to run wild! Full of comics, collage, fan-art, photo essays and more, Zines draw inspiration from anywhere and everywhere.
Children under 14 must always be accompanied by a caregiver in our libraries.
