Coding Workshops for Girls
This beginner-friendly workshop introduces young girls to the wonderful world of coding. In this two-hour session, participants will learn the basics of Scratch – a website that uses visual coding blocks to teach programming – and create a simple game through a guided, step-by-step process.
This workshop is for girls aged nine and up, and participants are encouraged to sign up with a friend!
Please bring your own device (a laptop is preferred). A parent or guardian’s email address will be required to create a Scratch account so participants can save their work.
Disclaimer: This workshop is designed to encourage and support young girls to explore coding. Women and girls remain underrepresented in the tech sector, and this programme aims to help bridge that gap in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
For Scratch coding sessions open to all participants, please see our Code Creators classes running during the school term.
Children under 14 must always be accompanied by a caregiver in our libraries.
