This Matariki season, we invite you to dive into the knowledge pool of Tūmatauenga, the atua of war and humankind. In this 3-part workshop, we’ll cover Tūmatauenga and his many domains, some history of Maaori warfare and each of you will get to create one of his many treasures: The Koikoi (double tipped spear).
Session 1: History of Tūmatauenga, begin crafting koikoi
Session 2: Finish carving ends, begin staining
Session 3: Dressing with feathers, blessing with karakia
