Get ready for an unforgettable summer adventure as we take to the skies with our exciting reading programme, "Lift Off with Hamilton City Libraries! Te Ohomauri, Haaweratia!"
This summer, kids aged 0-12 will embark on a journey across beautiful Kirikiriroa Hamilton, all from the comfort of their reading nooks. Participants will "fly" their very own hot-air balloons across a fabulous reading map, completing thrilling reading challenges and activities that turn each book into a new destination.
As they soar through captivating stories, tamariki will earn stamps and prizes, making for a delightful reading experience. We will also have events featuring crafts, fun STEM activities, and special themed story times.
Plus, we will have a spectacular ‘Landing Party’ at the end of the journey!

How it works
Starting Monday 15 December, visit your local library to pick up a map for exploring exciting places in Hamilton Kirikiriroa. On the map, you can colour in each spot you visit and receive a stamp at every library.
You can also enjoy fun activities like Book Bingo and a scavenger hunt along the way. Keep an eye out for the bonus icon:

The programme wraps up on Thursday 22 January, with a big Landing Party to celebrate your reading adventure. We can’t wait to share this journey with you!
