Relax with a good book with Summer Fun at Hamilton City Libraries! Whether you’re visiting the beach with your family, or at a park with your friends, our Summer Reading Programme is packed with heaps of things to make this summer the best ever. Read books, complete activities, and attend events throughout the summer at all our libraries and be in to win fabulous prizes.
How it works: Visit your local library from Monday 9 December to sign up and get your very own summer reading programme booklet! Pages 3 and 4 of your booklet feature a spinning top activity to help you decide whether to read, create, or do an activity! We can’t wait to have a fun-filled summer with you!
Read it - Read books to earn stamps, keep track of your reading using the reading log, and write reviews on our special reading programme bookmarks. If you visit the library and share what you've been reading with the librarians, you might even win a spot prize!
Make it, Do it - The summer reading programme booklet includes some fun summer-themed crafts. During the summer reading programme, there will be 'Make it' and 'Do it' events to spark your creativity. Complete the booklet activities or attend the events to fill in your 'Make it, Do it' log.
Older siblings and parents, we have a summer reading programme for you too! Check out Beanstack for more information.
We want to give a special shout-out to the fantastic students of Rototuna High School - Te Kura Nui o Rototuna, Te Totara Primary School, and Whitiora School. Your participation in our surveys and feedback helped us design this year's summer reading programme. We truly appreciate your support!
Parents and guardians: Please see the terms and conditions for participating in our Reading Programmes.
Events and Workshops
During the summer reading programme, there will be many creative 'Make it' and 'Do it' events and workshops so you can complete the 'Make it, Do it' log in your booklet.
