Level 3 of Central Library serves as our research centre, with specialists available to assist with family history, local history or any other special project or topic.

Our Heritage collection includes the main reference collection of Hamilton City Libraries, featuring books from a broad range of topics around New Zealand including history, art and culture, government information and text books. These are only available to view in the Library.

We can also assist with searching our Archives and Special Collections, which includes unpublished letters and diaries of early Waikato settlers, community and Council Archives.

Our staff are always willing to assist with enquiries, even if you have never undertaken research before we can help to point you in the right direction or suggest resources you may not know about!

You can request information via our online form below, or by phoning Central Library.
