Wrap up - Money Month
Dinsdale Library was buzzing with energy and inspiration during its recent Money Month event, held on Saturday, 30 August 2025. Designed to support financial wellbeing and spark conversations around money management, the event brought together community members of all ages for a day of learning, sharing, and celebration.
One of the highlights of the day was a talk by Rach from Mamas Donuts, whose story captivated the audience. From humble beginnings selling donuts out of a caravan in Temple View to building a thriving franchise, Rach’s journey was a powerful reminder that financial success often starts with passion, perseverance, and a bold idea. Her candid reflections of their struggles and practical insights resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom left feeling motivated to take the next step in their own financial journeys.
Throughout the day, financial advisors from the Hamilton Budgeting Advisory Trust were available to offer guidance and answer questions. Whether it was budgeting tips, debt advice, or simply a friendly conversation about money matters, their presence added a valuable layer of support to the event. We also had plenty of resources for people to issue and take home to grow their financial literacy with a huge range of quality titles on budgeting and money management.
Thanks to funding from the Retirement Commission, the event was free to attend, making it accessible to everyone in the community. Competitions and prize draws added a fun and festive atmosphere, with lucky winners contacted after the event. Videos were taken to capture the spirit of the day, and those who registered for Rach’s talk were treated to an intimate and engaging session that filled up quickly.
Money Month at Dinsdale Library was a celebration of community resilience, financial empowerment, and the belief that everyone deserves the tools to thrive.
