Te Kete Aronui Rototuna Library was alive with music and excitement as over 120 people gathered to celebrate the end of term ukulele classes with a special concert. What began earlier in the year with just five keen young learners quickly grew to around 50 students by the end of the course. Students were not only learning how to play but also building their knowledge of music theory. Their concert performance opened with Roar by Katy Perry and included nine songs in total. They were also joined by ukulele groups from both Te Totara and Nawton Primary School.

The concert was well received, with many parents asking about future opportunities. Ukulele classes will continue in Term Four, with a junior class at Chartwell Library on Fridays from 3:45 - 4:15pm, followed by a senior class from 4:30 - 5:15pm. A Thursday class will also run at Central Library from 3:45 - 4:15pm.

The classes are best suited to children aged 6-9, though young and older participants are welcome.
