Celebrating Our Biggest Summer Reading Programme Yet!
What an incredible summer it has been! From the moment the first book was opened to the final prize being handed out, this year’s Summer Reading Programmes, Lift Off! with Hamilton City Libraries and Summer Book Camp were nothing short of stellar.
We are thrilled to announce that 1,381 children, teens, and adults signed up to take the journey with us this year. To every whaanau who participated: Thank you. Seeing tamariki dive headfirst into their adventure maps across Kirikiriroa , watching teens and adults take on the Summer Book Camp with pride, and witnessing the creativity at our events and workshops reminded us all why summer reading is the heartbeat of our library.
The Landing Party: A Mission Success!
Our Landing Party officially touched down on Thursday 22 January at Te Kete Aronui Rototuna Library and we are still buzzing from the energy! Families from across Kirikiriroa, Hamilton joined us at the library to celebrate the end of our summer adventure with a bash full of colour, laughter, and hard-earned prizes.

The highlights of the day included:
-
Science in Action: A high-energy Bubble Science Show that left us all wondering "how did they do that?"
-
Creative Hubs: Arts and crafts stations where imagination took flight.
-
High-Flying Fun: Stilt walkers and professional face painting that transformed the Library festive.
Looking Ahead: The Adventure Continues...
While the sun might be setting on our summer reading programmes the journey doesn't stop here.
We can’t wait to see your friendly faces back in the stacks soon during the Winter Reading Programme.
Until then, keep turning those pages!
