Player's first performance

HCLE 00889tile

On 29 August 1935, the St Peter’s Players performed “The Importance of Being Earnest”, Oscar Wilde’s well known comedy to a crowded auditorium. The performance was held at the Theatre Royal and was very well received. This was the groups first public performance.

Almost as interesting as the programme are the adverts on the front, which have used the title of the play as part of their taglines!
