This a la carte menu is from Restaurant Vienna, on Victoria Street, and dates from 1959. Both Restaurant Vienna and Restaurant Chevron were owned and directed by George Vlasic. Specialities included Hot Roast Chicken, Wiener Schnitzel, Hawaiian Steak and Garlic T Bone Steak. It is interesting to peruse the prices of these meals, all listed in the currency of the time of course. A grilled steak with mushrooms was 8/- ($20.26 in today’s money) while a schnitzel with two eggs was 7/6 ($19.00 in today’s money) and whitebait was 6/- ($15.20 in today’s money).
