Commercial stand for J.B. MacEwan & Co. Ltd the sole agents for the L.K.G. Milking machine and Baltic Separator. 'LKG' stood for Lawrence Kennedy & Gillies. HCL_09655

This is what a milking machine and separator stand looked like at the winter show about 1914. J B MacEwan & Co. Ltd were sole agents for both the Baltic Separator and the L.K.G. Milking Machine. The separators are on the centre stand. All different sizes can be had and apparently, they were said to have had a ‘wonderful gyroscopic pull’ and were claimed to be ‘the closest skimming separator ever offered’. Perhaps all farms had a separator – farms in the ‘old days’ had at least one cow, didn’t they? So, the pigs got the milk, the porridge got the cream and what did not go on the porridge went to the creamery. Lister machines were made in Gloucestershire in England while the equivalent by Baltic were made in Sydney.
