Park stamps mark in city
As Seddon Park gets ready to be a host venue for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, we can look back at previous matches played there. 57 years ago Northern Districts hosted Pakistan over Waitangi Weekend, 1965.
The area now known as Seddon Park was named after Premier Richard John Seddon in July 1906, not long after his death in office, one of many tributes around the country. While the park has made it’s name as a cricket venue, it has also hosted hockey, soccer, rugby, athletics, cycling, concerts and band performances throughout it’s history.
