October 1984: Rotowaro Dairy open for business
Last week we featured an image of the very early Frankton ‘Model Dairy’ flier. They would sell eggs, cream, milk & butter – probably from an old-fashioned store with everything behind the counter. In this photo is the Rotowaro dairy of October 1984. The chap leans against the counter with plenty of serving space. To the left is the ice cream freezer, behind him shelves of sweets – chocolates, chocolate bars, peppermints, barley sugars. Above his head is a long banner advertising sign behind which is his stock of cigarettes. The photo was taken at ten to three. In the same series there are photos of milk being delivered so he probably did sell eggs, butter & cream.
