Joan Marie Galat is an award-winning author of more than 25 books, including a Canadian best seller.

In a lively presentation that blends astronomy and storytelling, Joan launches students into science. From the stories ancient cultures told about the night sky to how light pollution impacts wildlife, Joan also intrigues young writers with the story of how she became a paid columnist at age 12. Students will appreciate the excitement of engineering as Joan reveals how she “literally” launched five books in rockets. By the end of the visit, everyone will understand how reading leads to new adventure.

This is a family session – no registrations required to attend.

Joan will also present two other sessions on the same day: Using stories to promote STEM (for educators, teachers, and librarians) and Dark Matters (for youth and those who work with youth).
