Joan Marie Galat is an award-winning author whose career began at age 12 when she became a newspaper columnist. Now the author of more than 25 books, including a Canadian best seller, Joan invites students to explore STEM topics in her books.

From nesting turtles to migrating birds, light pollution affects more than just humans. Discover how our need to light the world affects wildlife and people; and how fact-based books can encourage reluctant readers as well as avid students.

This session is aimed at youth (teens) and those who work with youth. Please register below to attend.

Joan will also present two other sessions on the same day: Using stories to promote STEM (for educators, teachers, and librarians) and Dot to Dot in the Sky (for families).
