Weaving together tradtional craft with the maaori language, our staff will guide you step-by-step as you begin your raranga (weaving) journey. You will learn about the tikanga of harakeke and how to weave simple but beautiful items.
In these sessions, you will learn how to weave kete (baskets) and poroporo (bracelets) that you can take home at the end of the session.
These beginner's workshops are in celebration of Mahuru Maaori. If you are interested in taking this skill further, we run regular raranga workshops at St Andrews Library (monthly, registration required) and Glenview Library (monthly, all ages welcome).
