Lacquer fans originated in China and have a long history. Records of lacquer fans can be found as early as the Han Dynasty. As time goes by, their production process has continued to develop and has become an important part of Chinese traditional culture. Lacquer fans are made using the intangible cultural heritage lacquer dyeing process, using the "lacquer bleaching" technique in lacquer art. The lacquer is insoluble in water, and the fan is placed in water to contact the dye to form a natural pattern.
